About The Bulawayo Club
Historic colonial-era club turned boutique hotel with spacious rooms and period character.
A Colonial-Era Gem in the Heart of Bulawayo
The Bulawayo Club is one of Zimbabwe's most storied establishments. Founded in 1895 — just two years after the city itself — this members' club turned boutique hotel preserves the elegance of a bygone era while welcoming modern travellers to its stately halls.
Heritage & Character
Step through the front doors and you step back in time. Dark-wood panelling, leather armchairs, trophy heads, vintage photographs, and a magnificent teak staircase set the scene. The Club has hosted presidents, explorers, and dignitaries for over a century, and its guest book reads like a history of Southern Africa.
Accommodation
Heritage Rooms — Individually decorated rooms with four-poster beds, antique furnishings, high ceilings, and modern en-suite bathrooms. Each room has its own character; no two are alike.
The Suite — The Club's premier accommodation: a spacious living area, king bed, period furniture, and views over the gardens.
Dining
- The Dining Room — Formal dinners served under crystal chandeliers. The menu draws on classic British and Rhodesian-era cuisine with a modern Zimbabwean twist
- The Verandah — Casual breakfasts and afternoon teas overlooking the gardens
- The Bar — Single malts, gin and tonics, and local lagers served in a setting that hasn't changed in decades

"Staying at the Bulawayo Club felt like stepping into an Agatha Christie novel. The teak staircase, the leather chairs, the gin on the verandah — utterly magical." — Guest review
