About Nehimba Lodge
Imvelo Safari Lodges' stunning property with a photographic hide and the unique Elephant Express rail experience.
Deep Wilderness in the Heart of Hwange
Nehimba Lodge is an intimate safari camp set deep inside Hwange National Park, far from the main roads and tourist circuits. Run by Imvelo Safari Lodges, Nehimba offers a genuinely wild experience — elephants wander through camp, hyenas call at night, and the silence of the African bush is broken only by birdsong and the occasional lion's roar.
Accommodation
Tented Suites — Nine spacious tented rooms built on raised platforms, each with en-suite bathroom (hot shower, flush toilet), private viewing deck, and comfortable beds with quality linen. The tents are open-fronted, allowing the sights and sounds of the bush to filter in.
The Wildlife Experience
The Waterhole — Nehimba's famous waterhole sits just metres from the main lodge area. Elephant herds of 50 or more visit daily, especially in the dry season (June–November). Watching a breeding herd drink, splash, and play from the comfort of your lounge chair is a privilege few camps can match.
Game Drives — Morning and afternoon drives into Hwange's teak forests and open vleis. The area supports elephant, lion, leopard, wild dog, sable, roan, and over 400 bird species.
Walking Safaris — Guided bush walks with professional guides offer intimate encounters with the smaller details of the ecosystem — tracks, dung beetles, medicinal plants, and birding.
The Pump Run — Join the lodge team on their daily waterhole maintenance run. A unique, behind-the-scenes safari experience that's exclusive to Imvelo camps.
Community Connection
Nehimba operates in partnership with local communities who benefit directly from tourism revenue. Cultural village visits are available and provide genuine insight into rural Zimbabwean life.
