The Boma - Dinner & Drum Show
Immersive cultural dining experience featuring a traditional buffet, game meats, and interactive drumming.
Africa's Most Famous Dinner Experience
The Boma — Dinner & Drum Show is not just a restaurant — it is one of the most iconic dining experiences in Southern Africa. Located at the Victoria Falls Safari Lodge, The Boma has been serving guests since 1994 and has become a must-do experience for visitors to Victoria Falls.
The Experience
The evening begins with a traditional welcome and a taste of Chibuku — Zimbabwe's traditional opaque beer served in a communal calabash. From there, you're guided through an extraordinary buffet of African dishes, some familiar and some adventurous.
The Food
The Boma's menu celebrates the breadth of African cuisine:
- Game meats — warthog, crocodile, impala, and kudu prepared in traditional and contemporary styles
- Mopane worms — the famous edible caterpillar of the mopane tree, served fried or in a sauce (eating one earns you a certificate of bravery)
- Sadza and relishes — Zimbabwe's staple maize porridge with a variety of traditional meat and vegetable accompaniments
- Salads and vegetarian options — a comprehensive selection for non-meat eaters
- Desserts — sweet treats with an African twist
The Drum Show
After dinner, the evening transitions to a vibrant drum performance. Professional drummers lead the audience in an interactive session, teaching basic rhythms and building to a crescendo of communal drumming that is exhilarating, unifying, and impossible to resist.
The Boma is proof that the best restaurant experiences are about far more than food. The combination of African cuisine, traditional beer, communal dining, and the infectious energy of the drum show creates an evening that embodies the spirit of Zimbabwe.
